Who we are
Doctors with Disabilities UK is an independent peer-built website run by an individual doctor, providing guidance and resources for disabled doctors in the UK. The data controller for personal data collected through this site is Dr. Syed Masihuddin. To contact us about data matters: use our contact form.
What data we collect and why
We collect only the minimum personal data necessary to operate this site. We do not collect data we don't need. We do not sell data. Ever.

We do not use analytics software and do not track how you use this site. We do not collect special category data through our contact form. If you choose to include health information in your message or story submission, you do so voluntarily.
Cookies
We use one cookie on this site. It remembers that you have seen and acknowledged our cookie notice, so we don't show it to you again on your next visit. It does not track you, does not identify you, and is not shared with any third party.
- cookie_consent, stores that you have acknowledged this notice. Expires: 12 months.
We also store a session-only preference if you collapse the disclaimer bar at the top of the page. This is held in your browser's session storage only and is deleted when you close the tab , it is not a cookie and is never sent to any server.
Third-party cookies
The BMA video embedded on the Hidden Disability page is served from YouTube (Google). If you play the video, YouTube may set cookies on your device in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We have no control over these cookies. You can avoid them by not playing the embedded video and visiting the BMA website directly.
How contact form submissions are handled
When you submit the contact form, your message is sent to a private email address and stored securely in Netlify's form management platform. We use it only to respond to your message. We delete submissions once we have responded and no longer need them. We do not share your details with anyone else. Netlify's privacy policy.
Stories published on this site
Personal stories are published only with the contributor's explicit written consent, obtained before publication. Contributors can withdraw consent and request removal at any time by contacting us.
External links
This site links to external organisations including the BMA, Disabled Doctors Network, GOV.UK, and others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Who we share data with
We share your data with no one for marketing, commercial, or advertising purposes. Ever. The only third parties who may process your data are:
- Netlify - our hosting and form processing provider. Netlify's privacy policy.
- Anthropic - messages sent to the AI rights advisor are processed by Anthropic's API to generate a response. Messages are not stored by Anthropic beyond the immediate API call. Anthropic's privacy policy.
- YouTube/Google - if you play the embedded BMA video on the Hidden Disability page.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access, request a copy of any data we hold about you
- Rectification, ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure, ask us to delete your data
- Withdraw consent, at any time, without affecting prior processing
- Object, to processing in certain circumstances
To exercise any of these rights, use our contact form. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children
This site is intended for medical professionals and students aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if our practices change. The "Last reviewed" date above reflects when it was last updated.
